Early Autumn?

It was 41 degrees when we woke up this morning. It is up to 55 at 1:39. Feels like fall. Leaves are falling, but not profusely. Bring the summer to your room with our Oval Rose Garden Window.

Don's Work

The Jewelry is Goggit in a Box. This is painting is Fly on a Fly. This one is The Lawyers Mouth. We've been scanning Don's portfolio. He has work that spans much of our married life. We are posting a few samples. The first is Diwai Terror, using our wonderful firewood from New Guinea. (We had a wood burning stove.) His jewelry is also unusually interesting and thought provoking. His work often is intellectually stimulating and amusing as well. Look for the humor in it. Isn't that one of the joys of life?

Puzzles in life

When I got to the school library this morning to help with the electronic inventory, I discovered that we needed to update the hand-held unit, but had no idea how to do it. Thank goodness for a knowledgeable help desk person with the patience to walk me through it. Thank you Doug! Puzzle solved. Now just figure out the rest and the not so small matter of scanning the multitude of books on the shelves and chase down the stray books with my friend, Jan. Rain has been falling intermittently for several days. The farmer's crops are growing dramatically. (I drive through Illinois farmland regularly.) Our tomato plants are growing like weeds and have at least a dozen small fruits already forming on the lower parts.

The rain on the plain

The tomatoes and flowers in my backyard seem to be thriving. We had a rather steady rainfall yesterday afternoon and into the evening. The advantage I have over the farmers is two-fold. My livelihood does not depend on their production, and my garden is small enough that we can readily water it. Pray for rain for the farmers on the plains. Rain at night would be nice, not disrupting the non-farming folks fun, but a steady gentle rain would be helpful for our farmers crops.

CHILDREN'S HEALTH CONCERN!

We have removed some very cute furnishings from our website because of MDF.
Because we have children who are sensitive to environmental pollutants,
we have removed several items that are listed as being made of MDF, which is known to release formaldehyde for the life of the product.
We will strive to supply only items made of solid wood, not remanufactured wood. We are shopping for solid wood replacements for these toxic gas producing products.

New Items on my website!

Here is the Candy Crusher Ice Cream Maker! It also comes in Lime, Blueberry and Platinum. I found some very cool items for my castle kitchen, very useful and decorative. The whole family of Deni products are beautifully designed, efficient and well constructed. The ice cream makers are quite versatile and efficient. The gel cooled makers come in an array of delightful colors. We also found a Compressor Ice Cream Maker, which is self cooled. You can make batch after batch without worrying about the cooling factor.
Great for economical and creative summer treats!
Great for parties.

Weather, Weeds & Plantings

It is a beautiful day in Sandwich. Everything is growing and blooming. (especially the dandelions) We have a tree trying to re-establish itself from the ground down stump. Any ideas? We don't want the new growth. It was a locust tree, something of a weed in this area. Digging turf to make space for some new shrubs is a back-breaker. We have it turned over in one area to kill the grass, then we will knock the dirt off and add mulch and more topsoil before transplanting some tulips and daffodils.

Remember Mother's Day, May 13th.

Whether the Mother you honor is your own mother, or the mother of your children, surprise her with one of our wonderful choices in authentic Tiffany style stained glass! You may want to choose from our window collection to give flowers that don't fade! A mini-lamp in stained glass could delight her for years to come. If your loved one is of a more practical bent you might amaze her with a "Touchless" waste can that the rest of the family will enjoy as well. (Can you imagine using enjoy and waste can in the same sentence?) If shipping time is too long for it to arrive on time we would be glad to send a picture of the item in an e-mail, with an appropriate greeting at no charge.

Artistic touches define your decor.

Have you seen our sculpture tables? My favorite is the 12 dolphin coffee table with one of the dolphins breaching the top of the glass table.

New Products

We just placed some Touchless Trashcans on our site. This could be a boon to persons with crippling or disabling conditions such as arthritis. All you have to do is be within 6 inches of the trash cans and they automatically open, then close when you move away. This device could encourage otherwise careless people to be amused enough to pick up after themselves. (The hope of many a parent.)
